Solar in Crib PointA quiet town with a lot of open roof
Crib Point sits on the Western Port side of the Peninsula, between Bittern and Stony Point, with HMAS Cerberus on its southern edge and the mangroves along the shore. Most of the township is plain single-storey housing on ordinary residential blocks, weatherboard and brick veneer, with tile or tin roofs that are rarely crowded by a second storey or a big tree. That is about as straightforward a starting point for solar as you get.
The detail that changes the design is the supply. Some Crib Point homes are on a standard single-phase connection, and some, particularly the newer builds and the larger lots on the edge of town, are three-phase. Our written-up job here was one of the three-phase ones: 33 Jinko Tiger Neo panels spread over three faces of a tiled hip roof, a Sigenergy three-phase inverter and four SigenStor battery modules, 32.24kWh in total, with the Solar Victoria rebate applied.
We work out which supply you have before anything else, because it decides the inverter, how the battery backs up the house and how much the network will let you export. Then we size the panels and storage to how the house is used. More on our general electrical work in the area is on the Crib Point page.
