Crib PointThe Crib Point job, house by house
In Crib Point the houses are on acres, the supply is often three-phase and the gas, if there is any, comes in a bottle. It is about 19 minutes from our Somerville depot and a big part of our work there is large solar and battery systems with backup, because the grid on the hinterland goes down more than it should.
Because Crib Point is on mains gas and inside the VEU area, the typical order of works is heating and hot water first for the rebates and the running-cost drop, then solar and a battery sized to the new electric load, then the cooktop, then the gas meter abolished. We plan the whole sequence at the first inspection so nothing has to be redone.
Crib Point is regular territory for our crews, and a site inspection there is usually within the week. We design every job as one system, so the solar is sized for the heat pump it will run and the switchboard is checked before the EV charger is quoted.
