Solar in BerwickThe builder's solar was never enough
Berwick has more written-up Powerband installs than any other suburb, and they follow a pattern. The house is a four or five bedroom family home in one of the estates, often double storey, with a large roof and a modern switchboard. It either has no solar or a small system that came with the house. And the household uses a lot of power: ducted heating and cooling, a pool or spa in some, and more and more often an EV.
That is why Berwick systems are large. Our installs here run from 8kW to 19.68kW, and most pair the array with 24 to 40kWh of battery. A multi-face roof with a second storey takes more design than a simple gable, so we map every face for shading and morning or afternoon output before we count panels. Several streets have three-phase supply, which changes the inverter and what can be exported.
The newest streets in Berwick were built without a gas connection, so the whole house already runs on electricity and a battery earns its keep from the first night. In the older estates such as Timbarra and Brentwood Park the gas heater and hot water are next in line, and we size the solar for the day they go. More on our work across Berwick.
