Solar in BeaconsfieldWhere the trees decide the layout
Beaconsfield sits where Casey's suburbs run into the foothills, and the housing shows it. Around the old township and up the rise toward Beaconsfield Upper there are established homes on larger blocks, many surrounded by mature gums and garden trees. On the newer streets the blocks are smaller and the roofs clearer. A design that works on one side of the suburb can be wrong on the other.
On the treed blocks, shade is the first thing we check. A tall tree to the north or west can take hours off a roof face in winter, so we map which faces stay clear and when, and put panels only where they earn their place. Sometimes that means a smaller array and a bigger battery. Sometimes the east and west faces do more of the work than the north.
The system we have written up here shows the scale Beaconsfield owners are choosing: 11.76kW of all-black Aiko panels on a tin roof and 41.6kWh of GoodWe storage, enough to cover a long evening. Read more about our work around Beaconsfield.
