Heating in BeaconsfieldCool foothill nights, tired gas heaters
The higher streets of Beaconsfield, toward Beaconsfield Upper, can run cooler than the suburbs on the flat, and heating does real work here from autumn into spring. In the established homes around the township the usual setup is a ducted gas heater, sometimes with a wood heater in the lounge as well, and cooling that was added later, if at all.
Many of those gas heaters are now old enough to cost more in gas and repairs than they are worth. Replacing one with ducted reverse cycle gives the house heating and proper cooling from a single system. Single-storey homes with an accessible roof space get the full job: the old heater and ducts removed, and new R1.5 insulated ducts sized to the new unit run to each room.
A lot of Beaconsfield houses have been extended over the years, with a rumpus room, studio or upstairs addition the original ducts never reached. Those rooms usually suit a Mitsubishi Electric or Hisense split system alongside the ducted unit. More about our work in Beaconsfield.
