Solar in Dandenong NorthBig simple roofs on sloping streets
Dandenong North was laid out in the 1960s and 70s as a suburb of family homes, and it still is one. The standard house between Stud Road and Heatherton Road is a single-storey brick veneer with a hipped tile roof, three or four bedrooms and a block big enough for a shed and a lemon tree. Those roofs are generous and uncomplicated, which makes them good for solar.
What makes the suburb different from the flat country to the south is the ground. The streets rise and fall, so houses step down the slope and face whichever way the road happens to run. Two homes of the same design a few doors apart can have their best roof face pointing in different directions, and a house on the low side can lose late sun to the one above it. We model the shading for your address before we place a panel.
Nearly every one of these homes was built with ducted gas heating and gas hot water, on a switchboard that was never meant for more than lights, power points and a stove. Solar here should be sized for the electric house it is going to become, and the board brought up to date as part of the job. Both are covered in one quote, with our other services in Dandenong North.
