The Noble Park job, house by house

About 40 minutes from Somerville, Noble Park is classic City of Greater Dandenong housing: brick veneer built in the 1960s, 70s and 80s, most of it heated by ducted gas that is now well past its design life. We have worked in Noble Park and neighbouring Noble Park North, Dandenong North and Springvale South for years, so we know these houses before we walk in.

The gas heater and the hot water unit are where a Noble Park home's energy money goes, and both are in the Victorian Energy Upgrades area, so replacing them attracts VEU discounts on top of the running-cost saving. Ducted reverse cycle usually connects to the existing ducts, and a heat pump hot water unit goes in on the same day the old tank comes out. Solar Victoria rebates and loans cover the panels and battery that follow.

Everything on this page is done by Powerband employees, not subcontractors, and quoted as a fixed after-rebate price after a free site inspection. For the full picture of how we stage a house off gas, see home electrification; for Noble Park specifics, the fastest answer is a phone call.

What we do in Noble Park

Every service, written for Noble Park homes

Ordered by what pays back fastest in Noble Park's housing: heating and hot water first, then solar and battery sized to the new electric load.

Replacing a 20-plus-year-old ducted gas heater with a Braemar or Mitsubishi reverse cycle unit on the existing ducts is the job we do most in Noble Park. The house gets cooling for the first time, the gas bill drops and the VEU discount comes off the install. Where ducts are not practical, split systems from Panasonic, Mitsubishi or Haier cover the living areas and bedrooms.

Heating & Cooling across Melbourne

Most Noble Park homes still have a gas storage tank, and when it fails it is usually replaced like for like without anyone asking the question. The better answer is a heat pump from Reclaim, iStore or Emerald, installed in a day by our plumber and electrician together, with VEU and STCs both applied. About a quarter of the energy, and normally the fastest-paying step off gas.

Hot Water Systems across Melbourne

Noble Park roofs are mostly tile, unshaded and facing somewhere useful, so solar is straightforward. A standard block takes 6.6kW to 10kW; we size to your usage and to the gas appliances you are replacing. Sigenergy, Tesla Powerwall or Sungrow batteries cover the evening peak, and we lodge the Solar Victoria rebate and loan and the federal battery discount for you.

Solar & Battery across Melbourne

A full Noble Park electrification is usually heating first, hot water second, then solar and battery sized to the new load, then the cooktop, then the gas meter abolished. Designed once at the first inspection, staged over as many visits as suits you, and every step attracts its own rebates.

Home Electrification across Melbourne

Once heating and hot water are electric, the cooktop is the last gas appliance in most Noble Park kitchens and the reason the supply charge keeps arriving. We supply and install the induction cooktop, run the dedicated circuit and cap the gas, usually in half a day, with the VEU discount applied.

Induction Cooktops across Melbourne

Noble Park has a mix of single and three-phase supply depending on the street and the age of the connection, and the older switchboards often need work before a charger goes in. We check both before quoting a Tesla Wall Connector, Sigenergy or Zappi, and set it to charge from your solar first.

EV Chargers across Melbourne

Infill and knockdown-rebuild work is steady across Noble Park, and new Victorian homes are all-electric. We provide the electrical fit-out and the complete electric package for builders as one contractor, priced from the plans.

The whole experience of working with Powerband has been fantastic. From the get go they were helpful with the design, requirements and answering all the questions we had about the install. We couldn't be happier with choosing them for the job. Special thanks to Bailey and the team for getting the entire installation done in one day it was a huge job so for it to be done and to such a high standard is much appreciated Thanks everyone at Powerband for all you've done

We have just had a Braemer Dominator reverse cycle ducted system installed by the Powerband Electrical team to replace our gas-fired system. We were very happy with the whole process, from the sales/design discussions with Dayle to the installation by the team led by Julian and including Logan and Darren. Using the existing ducting had its challenges but the team overcame them well. Julian set up the AirTouch5 control system & zoning with us and with a sudden cold snap arriving it has proven simple to use to create a comfortable environment. In fact we are already finding it far more effective system than the considerably larger gas unit and a more uniform heat with less draughts. Thanks to the Powerband team. Ken in Glen Waverley

Petris and his electrical team did 2 inverter airconditioner installs as part of our whole solar system install. Great workers, good thinkers who could sort out a couple of small issues in short order and wonderful people to have around our house. Organised and professional. Highly recommend Powerband.

Had the Powerband team electrify out whole house. Updated the heating / cooling with split systems, replace gas cooktop & hot water and put solar on with a 30kw battery. No gas bill, solar is producing more energy than we consume. These days we barely even have the supply charge. As part of it, they put the package together of what we wanted and needed to future proof our house and showed us several options for paying for it, in the end we opted for a 5-year interest free loan. Looking at our numbers, most of the loan will be paid off from the savings from our gas and electricity savings. All the work and upgrades done and barely any out of pocket cost, nice.... The team were great - worked in with timing for the jobs when it worked for us. The boys on site were all great, friendly, polite and professional. Did the job well and packed up (and cleaned up) well. Happy to recommend Powerband to anyone wanting to electrify their house in a cost-effective way.

FAQ

Noble Park questions

Anything else, call 0466 355 441.

Is Noble Park eligible for Victorian Energy Upgrades discounts?

Yes. Noble Park is inside the VEU area, so heat pump hot water, reverse cycle heating and cooling and induction cooktops all attract discounts, with the largest when you are replacing gas. We apply them on the quote.

What is the first thing to replace in a Noble Park home on gas?

Usually the ducted heater or the hot water unit, whichever is older. Both carry the largest running costs and the largest VEU discounts, and both are one-visit jobs.

How quickly can you get to Noble Park for a quote?

Usually within the week, often sooner. Our depot is in Somerville, about 40 minutes from Noble Park.

Do Noble Park homes have enough roof for solar and a battery?

Nearly all of them. A standard Noble Park home takes 6.6kW to 10kW comfortably, and larger blocks take more. We size to your usage and to whatever gas appliances you are replacing.

Which suburbs around Noble Park do you cover?

All of them. Noble Park North, Dandenong North and Springvale South and the rest of the South East and Casey area, and across Melbourne. See the locations page for the full list.
