Sungrow inverters and batteries, installed by Powerband
String inverters, hybrid inverters and the modular SBR battery from the biggest inverter maker in the world. The value pick in our range: proven, well supported in Australia, and a long way cheaper per kilowatt-hour than the premium brands. Installed by our own SAA-accredited electricians.
- ★★★★★ Rated Excellent on Google
- SAA accredited installer
- A-Grade licensed and insured
The sensible option, not the cheap one
Sungrow has been making inverters since 1997 and ships more of them than anyone else. In Australia that shows up as a big local service team, parts on the shelf and a 10-year warranty on the residential range. The hardware is not flashy, it just works, and the price gap to the premium brands is real: on a like-for-like hybrid and battery system, Sungrow is usually the lowest quote we can write without compromising on support.
We install three things from them. The SG-RS string inverters for simple solar-only roofs, the SH hybrid inverters for homes adding a battery now or later, and the SBR battery, a stackable LFP unit in 3.2kWh steps that pairs with the SH hybrids. System design is on the solar and battery page; this page is about the Sungrow hardware.
Sungrow residential range at a glance
String, hybrid and battery. All three carry a 10-year warranty in Australia.
SH hybrid range. String inverters up to 98.2%.
Single phase 2 to 10kW, three phase 5 to 25kW.
Stack 3 to 8 modules, 9.6kWh to 25.6kWh.
Inverters and SBR battery, Australian support.
Three ways Sungrow goes in
Solar only, solar with a battery, or a big battery on a three-phase home. Sungrow covers all three at a sharp price.
Solar only: SG-RS string inverter
A simple north-facing roof, no battery plans, and the lowest cost per kilowatt of solar you can buy from a tier-one brand. Two MPPTs on the 5kW and up models handle a split roof. If a battery is even a maybe, skip this and go hybrid.
- 2 to 10kW single phase
- Up to 98.2% efficiency
- Two MPPTs from 5kW
- 10-year warranty
Hybrid: SH-RS and 9.6kWh
The SH-RS hybrid with a three-module SBR stack. Covers the evening peak for a typical home, backs up essential circuits, and the stack takes more modules later. The most-quoted Sungrow system we do, and normally the lowest-priced hybrid and battery combination on the quote.
- 5 to 10kW hybrid
- 9.6kWh, expandable to 25.6kWh
- Essential-circuit backup
- iSolarCloud app
Three phase: SH-RT and 19.2kWh
For three-phase homes with ducted heating and cooling, a pool or an EV. The SH-RT hybrid runs 5 to 25kW and backs up all three phases. Six SBR modules gives 19.2kWh, and a second stack can be added in parallel if the load grows.
- 5 to 25kW three phase
- 19.2kWh, up to 25.6kWh per stack
- Three-phase backup
- Parallel stacks possible
Pricing depends on inverter size, SBR module count, switchboard condition and phase. We quote against your bill with the battery rebates already applied, and usually alongside a Sigenergy quote so you can see the difference.

How a Sungrow install runs
From site inspection to switch-on, all done by our own crew. Solar only is a day, solar and SBR is usually a day as well.

- 01Free site inspection and bill review
Roof, switchboard, phase and where the inverter and battery can sit. We read a recent bill to size the system and check Solar Victoria solar rebate and federal battery discount eligibility.
- 02Fixed quote, rebates applied
String or hybrid, SBR module count and the number you actually pay with incentives taken off up front. We will normally quote a premium option alongside it so you can see what the extra money buys.
- 03One-day install by our electricians
Panels up, inverter and SBR stack mounted, switchboard work done, backup circuits wired where a battery is fitted. SAA-accredited, A-Grade, in-house.
- 04Commissioning, app and paperwork
Grid connection and export limit arranged with your distributor, iSolarCloud set up on your phone, certificate of electrical safety and warranty registration lodged.
Sungrow against the other systems we install
Sungrow wins on price per kilowatt-hour. These are the systems it gets quoted against, and when the extra spend is worth it.
All-in-one stack with 8kWh modules, DC EV charging and V2H. Worth the extra when you want one box for everything, or an EV is coming.
Tesla Powerwall 313.5kWh with the inverter built in and the Tesla app. Worth the extra for whole-home backup on single phase and the ecosystem.
Fronius GEN24 PlusAustrian-built hybrid, active cooling, BYD battery option. Worth the extra for build quality and the longest inverter track record.
Sungrow from the crew that does the whole house
We install the heat pump, the induction cooktop and the EV charger the system will be feeding. That changes how we size it.
A Sungrow SG string inverter is cheap, but if a battery is on the cards within a few years the SH hybrid saves you replacing the inverter later. We tell you which one, and why.
SAA-accredited and A-Grade, on our payroll. The person who quoted the job is reachable after it, and the same crew comes back to add SBR modules later.
Solar Victoria solar panel rebate and interest-free loan, federal STCs on the panels and the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount on the battery. Checked at inspection, applied on the quote, lodged by us.
We give you the Sungrow number and a Sigenergy or Powerwall number side by side. Sometimes the gap is worth paying, sometimes it is not. You decide with both in front of you.

The whole experience of working with Powerband has been fantastic. From the get go they were helpful with the design, requirements and answering all the questions we had about the install. We couldn't be happier with choosing them for the job. Special thanks to Bailey and the team for getting the entire installation done in one day it was a huge job so for it to be done and to such a high standard is much appreciated Thanks everyone at Powerband for all you've donePosted on Google![]()

We have just had a Braemer Dominator reverse cycle ducted system installed by the Powerband Electrical team to replace our gas-fired system. We were very happy with the whole process, from the sales/design discussions with Dayle to the installation by the team led by Julian and including Logan and Darren. Using the existing ducting had its challenges but the team overcame them well. Julian set up the AirTouch5 control system & zoning with us and with a sudden cold snap arriving it has proven simple to use to create a comfortable environment. In fact we are already finding it far more effective system than the considerably larger gas unit and a more uniform heat with less draughts. Thanks to the Powerband team. Petris and his electrical team did 2 inverter airconditioner installs as part of our whole solar system install. Great workers, good thinkers who could sort out a couple of small issues in short order and wonderful people to have around our house. Organised and professional. Highly recommend Powerband.Posted on Google![]()

Had the Powerband team electrify out whole house. Updated the heating / cooling with split systems, replace gas cooktop & hot water and put solar on with a 30kw battery. No gas bill, solar is producing more energy than we consume. These days we barely even have the supply charge. As part of it, they put the package together of what we wanted and needed to future proof our house and showed us several options for paying for it, in the end we opted for a 5-year interest free loan. Looking at our numbers, most of the loan will be paid off from the savings from our gas and electricity savings. All the work and upgrades done and barely any out of pocket cost, nice.... The team were great - worked in with timing for the jobs when it worked for us. The boys on site were all great, friendly, polite and professional. Did the job well and packed up (and cleaned up) well. Happy to recommend Powerband to anyone wanting to electrify their house in a cost-effective way.Posted on Google![]()

Sungrow questions
Anything else, call 0466 355 441. You will get an electrician, not a salesperson.
Is Sungrow a good brand?
Yes. Sungrow is the largest inverter manufacturer in the world, has been in Australia for well over a decade, and backs its residential range with a 10-year warranty and a local service team. It is not a premium brand and it is not priced like one, but it is a long way from a budget import. We install it because it works and we can get support for it.
What is the Sungrow SBR battery?
A modular lithium iron phosphate battery built from 3.2kWh units that stack on top of each other. A stack runs from three modules (9.6kWh) to eight (25.6kWh), and more modules can be added in place later. It DC couples to the Sungrow SH hybrid inverters.
Sungrow string or hybrid inverter?
Hybrid (SH) if a battery is installed now or likely within a few years. String (SG) if the roof is simple, there are no battery plans and you want the lowest cost. Buying a string inverter and adding a battery later means paying for two inverters.
How much does a Sungrow solar and battery system cost in Melbourne?
It depends on inverter size, how many SBR modules and the panels on the roof, plus switchboard and phase. Sungrow is normally the lowest-priced hybrid and battery combination we quote. Book the free site inspection and you will have a fixed number, with rebates taken off, within a few days.
Does the Sungrow hybrid provide backup power?
Yes. The single-phase SH-RS backs up nominated essential circuits and the three-phase SH-RT backs up the whole home across all three phases. Switchover is automatic. We wire and test backup on every battery install.
Sungrow or Sigenergy?
Sungrow if the budget is the priority and you want a proven hybrid and battery from a huge manufacturer. Sigenergy if you want the all-in-one stack, DC EV charging or vehicle-to-home. We quote them side by side so you can see exactly what the difference buys.
Are Sungrow systems eligible for the federal battery rebate?
Yes. The SH hybrids and SBR battery are on the approved product list for the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, and the solar side qualifies for the Solar Victoria rebate and STCs. We confirm eligibility at inspection and apply it all on the quote.
Which suburbs do you install Sungrow in?
All of Melbourne, from the inner suburbs to the Mornington Peninsula. We are based in Somerville. See the locations page or call and we will confirm.
