Solar in Cranbourne NorthSame array, different battery
Cranbourne North filled in over about twenty years. The streets around Merinda Park date from the late 1990s, and the estates kept spreading north towards Thompsons Road and east through the 2000s and 2010s. Most of it is single-storey brick veneer under a tile roof, with ducted gas heating and, very often, an evaporative cooler sitting near the ridge. For solar, that last detail matters more than people expect.
An evaporative unit takes up roof and throws a shadow that moves through the day, and it tends to sit close to where the best panels would go. So a Cranbourne North layout starts with what is already up there. The two systems we have written up in the suburb both came to twenty Jinko Tiger Neo panels, 8.8kW, on a single-phase Sigenergy inverter.
Where they differ is storage. One household chose two battery modules, 16.12kWh, mounted on an outside wall. The other went to three modules, 24.18kWh, in the garage. Neither is the right answer for every house. It comes down to what runs after dark, and whether the gas heater and gas hot water are staying. That is the conversation we have at the site visit, along with the other work we do in Cranbourne North.
