Most Mornington roofs already have panels. We fit a Tesla, Sigenergy or GoodWe charger on its own circuit, set it to soak up the surplus your solar now exports for a few cents, and schedule it around the weekends the car is actually here.
Mornington went solar early, and a lot of those early systems now spend the middle of the day exporting power for a few cents. An electric car is the easiest way to use that surplus. A charger set to prefer solar fills the car with energy your roof was giving away, and only tops up from the grid in your off-peak window if the sun did not do the job. That is why most of the EV chargers Mornington owners ask us about go onto a house that already has panels.
Two details change the job. If the existing inverter is old or the array is small, the charger still works but the solar share is lower, and some owners pair the charger with an upgrade or a battery. Inside a Sigenergy system, the SigenStor EV DC module can charge the car from the battery and panels directly. The other detail is the switchboard. Each charger gets its own dedicated, protected circuit, and we check the board before quoting, with any upgrade included in the fixed price.
Mornington also has a lot of homes that are empty midweek. If the car arrives on a Friday night and leaves on Sunday, the charger is scheduled around that, and the solar keeps working for the house the rest of the week. We set it all up on your Wi-Fi before we leave, the same way we approach the rest of our work in Mornington.

All three brands can be set to use surplus solar. The right one depends on your supply and what is already on the roof.
Up to 7kW on single-phase and 11kW on three-phase. A simple, dependable choice for a garage or carport wall, with scheduling and solar charging set up through its app.
Up to 22kW where the car and supply allow. Sits neatly alongside a Sigenergy inverter and battery, and the SigenStor EV DC module is an option where the whole system is Sigenergy.
Available in 7kW, 11kW or 22kW. A natural partner for an existing GoodWe inverter, and a sensible choice where the house is single-phase and 7kW is the ceiling anyway.
Near the Esplanade and Fisherman's Beach, the charger and its isolator go under cover with sealed fittings. Where the house has battery backup, we also talk through how the charger should behave during an outage.
The full range is on our products page.
Up to 7kW on single-phase or 11kW on three-phase, on its own protected circuit from the switchboard.
The Sigen EV AC charger, up to 22kW, and the SigenStor EV DC module, both run from the same app as a Sigenergy battery.
Rated IP66 for carports and driveways, in 7kW, 11kW and 22kW versions to suit single or three-phase supply.
Pair the charger with solar and a battery and set it to use surplus solar first, then off-peak power.
No Mornington charger is written up yet. These three are from Somerville, Balnarring and Blairgowrie, on the same Peninsula roads.
Near our depot in Somerville, 30 Jinko Tiger Neo III panels, a three-phase Sigen hybrid inverter, five SigenStor modules and a Sigen EV charger, finished start to finish in one day.
In Balnarring, 24 Jinko Tiger Neo panels, a single-phase Sigen Hybrid 10.0 inverter, two SigenStor modules on the besser-block outside wall and a 7kW Sigen EV AC charger for the driveway, done as a single project.
Under Peninsula scrub in Blairgowrie, 27 Jinko panels on tilt frames, a Sigenergy SigenStor inverter and three battery modules on the garage wall, and a 7kW Sigen charger fitted ready for a future EV.
Typically about half a day on site for a standard install.
Panel count, inverter model and age, and whether it can work with a charger.
Single or three-phase, spare capacity and the cable route to where you park.
Charger, dedicated circuit and any switchboard work in one written figure.
Mounted under cover where possible, with sealed fittings near the water.
Solar first, off-peak second, and a schedule that matches when you are down. Certificate of Electrical Safety issued.
There is no Victorian or federal rebate on a home EV charger. If you want more solar or storage to run it, that is where incentives apply.
If you add a battery so the car can charge from stored solar at night, the Cheaper Home Batteries discount takes around 30 percent off an approved battery, with no income test.
We quote the charger, its circuit and any board upgrade as one fixed price. No rebate is involved and we do not process one.
Upgrading an older array to carry the car? STCs come off new panels at point of sale, and eligible owner-occupiers may get the Solar Victoria rebate and loan on panels and inverters. More on solar and battery in Mornington.
A charger works best when the person installing it understands the system on your roof.
Scheduling and app control mean the charger suits a house that is only full on weekends.
We install solar and batteries every week, so we can tell you how much of your driving the current array is likely to cover.
A-Grade licensed under REC 32300, with every charger installed by Powerband electricians, never subcontracted.
Our depot is in Somerville, 17 minutes from Mornington, so a follow-up visit is no trouble.

The whole experience of working with Powerband has been fantastic. From the get go they were helpful with the design, requirements and answering all the questions we had about the install. We couldn't be happier with choosing them for the job. Special thanks to Bailey and the team for getting the entire installation done in one day it was a huge job so for it to be done and to such a high standard is much appreciated Thanks everyone at Powerband for all you've donePosted on Google![]()

We have just had a Braemer Dominator reverse cycle ducted system installed by the Powerband Electrical team to replace our gas-fired system. We were very happy with the whole process, from the sales/design discussions with Dayle to the installation by the team led by Julian and including Logan and Darren. Using the existing ducting had its challenges but the team overcame them well. Julian set up the AirTouch5 control system & zoning with us and with a sudden cold snap arriving it has proven simple to use to create a comfortable environment. In fact we are already finding it far more effective system than the considerably larger gas unit and a more uniform heat with less draughts. Thanks to the Powerband team. Petris and his electrical team did 2 inverter airconditioner installs as part of our whole solar system install. Great workers, good thinkers who could sort out a couple of small issues in short order and wonderful people to have around our house. Organised and professional. Highly recommend Powerband.Posted on Google![]()

Had the Powerband team electrify out whole house. Updated the heating / cooling with split systems, replace gas cooktop & hot water and put solar on with a 30kw battery. No gas bill, solar is producing more energy than we consume. These days we barely even have the supply charge. As part of it, they put the package together of what we wanted and needed to future proof our house and showed us several options for paying for it, in the end we opted for a 5-year interest free loan. Looking at our numbers, most of the loan will be paid off from the savings from our gas and electricity savings. All the work and upgrades done and barely any out of pocket cost, nice.... The team were great - worked in with timing for the jobs when it worked for us. The boys on site were all great, friendly, polite and professional. Did the job well and packed up (and cleaned up) well. Happy to recommend Powerband to anyone wanting to electrify their house in a cost-effective way.Posted on Google![]()

Yes, as long as the charger is set to prefer surplus solar. How much of your driving it covers depends on the size of the array and when the car is home. We look at your system and give you a straight answer.
About 7kW on a 32A circuit, roughly 40km of range per hour. Three-phase homes can go to 11kW, or up to 22kW if the car accepts it.
It can. We schedule it to charge when you arrive, use solar while you are there, and leave the panels working for the house the rest of the week. You control it from your phone.
No. There is no rebate on home EV chargers anywhere in Victoria, and we do not process one. Solar panels and batteries have their own incentives.
Any outdoor electrical gear near the coast needs care. We mount the charger under cover where we can and use sealed fittings, especially close to the water.
A standard install is typically about half a day, longer if the switchboard needs upgrading. Either way it is in the fixed price, and EV chargers Mornington customers buy from us are set up and certified before we leave.
We check your solar, the board and where you park, then send one written price. No obligation.
