Heating in MorningtonFirst question: what does the house run on?
Heating in Mornington is less uniform than in the suburbs closer to town. Mains gas is reticulated through parts of the suburb and not others. The brick homes in the estates off Mornington-Tyabb Road and Bungower Road mostly have ducted gas. Older beach houses and weatherboards nearer Main Street often heat with a wood fire, a gas log fire or a couple of ageing splits, and some properties on the edges run LPG bottles.
So the first thing we do is find out what you have and what it costs you. A ducted gas home is a direct swap to ducted reverse cycle on new R1.5 insulated ducts. An LPG or wood-heated home usually has no ducts at all, and a multi-head or split systems are the efficient answer. In both cases the house also gets cooling, which a sea breeze no longer covers on a 38 degree day.
Mornington adds two conditions of its own. Salt air shortens the life of an unprotected outdoor coil, so we specify units with corrosion protection and place them out of the prevailing wind. And many homes here are empty midweek or for part of the year, where phone control and a setback temperature make a real difference. See also everything we do in Mornington.
