iStore 270L
A straightforward 270L unit for a family of four to six. A short drive south in Hastings, one replaced an old electric tank and now heats on the solar during the day.
- 270L tank
- Replaces electric tanks well
- Heats on daytime solar
Mains gas in town, LPG bottles or an electric tank out on the acreage. Whatever is there now, we replace it with an Emerald, Reclaim, iStore or Haier heat pump, normally in one day, from our depot here in Somerville.
Hot water systems Somerville homes run on depend on where the house sits. In the streets around the township most homes are on mains gas, with a gas storage or instantaneous unit on the side of the house. Out on the acreage the gas comes in bottles, if at all, and plenty of properties heat water with an LPG unit or a plain electric element tank.
Each of those is a good candidate for a heat pump, for slightly different reasons. Against gas storage, a heat pump makes the same hot water with about a quarter of the energy. Against LPG, you stop paying for bottle deliveries for hot water. Against an old electric tank, the heat pump does the same job on far less electricity, and on a property with a big array it can run almost entirely on the middle of the day.
For most families a 270L to 300L tank covers four to six people. We look at where the old unit sits, how the pipes run and what the switchboard carries, and quote it as we do the rest of our work in Somerville.
Four ranges, all heat pumps. Hot water systems Somerville customers get from us are fitted by our own plumber and electrician together.

Next door in Baxter, heat pump hot water went in with 24 Jinko Tiger Neo III panels, a single-phase Sigen hybrid and three SigenStor modules undercover on the south wall, plus main and sub-board upgrades.
The old electric element tank was replaced with an iStore heat pump that runs off the solar during the day. A 2015 5kW array came off and 13.3kW of all-black Jinko went on, with a GoodWe 8kW inverter and 33.28kWh battery.
An Emerald heat pump went in as part of a larger job that also replaced a gas wall furnace with reverse cycle, added 29 Jinko Tiger Neo III panels and 27.12kWh of SigenStor, and upgraded the switchboard.
Gas to heat pump swaps are normally done in one day, our plumber and electrician on site together.

The whole experience of working with Powerband has been fantastic. From the get go they were helpful with the design, requirements and answering all the questions we had about the install. We couldn't be happier with choosing them for the job. Special thanks to Bailey and the team for getting the entire installation done in one day it was a huge job so for it to be done and to such a high standard is much appreciated Thanks everyone at Powerband for all you've donePosted on Google![]()

We have just had a Braemer Dominator reverse cycle ducted system installed by the Powerband Electrical team to replace our gas-fired system. We were very happy with the whole process, from the sales/design discussions with Dayle to the installation by the team led by Julian and including Logan and Darren. Using the existing ducting had its challenges but the team overcame them well. Julian set up the AirTouch5 control system & zoning with us and with a sudden cold snap arriving it has proven simple to use to create a comfortable environment. In fact we are already finding it far more effective system than the considerably larger gas unit and a more uniform heat with less draughts. Thanks to the Powerband team. Petris and his electrical team did 2 inverter airconditioner installs as part of our whole solar system install. Great workers, good thinkers who could sort out a couple of small issues in short order and wonderful people to have around our house. Organised and professional. Highly recommend Powerband.Posted on Google![]()

Had the Powerband team electrify out whole house. Updated the heating / cooling with split systems, replace gas cooktop & hot water and put solar on with a 30kw battery. No gas bill, solar is producing more energy than we consume. These days we barely even have the supply charge. As part of it, they put the package together of what we wanted and needed to future proof our house and showed us several options for paying for it, in the end we opted for a 5-year interest free loan. Looking at our numbers, most of the loan will be paid off from the savings from our gas and electricity savings. All the work and upgrades done and barely any out of pocket cost, nice.... The team were great - worked in with timing for the jobs when it worked for us. The boys on site were all great, friendly, polite and professional. Did the job well and packed up (and cleaned up) well. Happy to recommend Powerband to anyone wanting to electrify their house in a cost-effective way.Posted on Google![]()

For many households, yes, because you stop buying LPG for hot water. The heat pump runs on electricity, and on daytime solar if you have panels.
Yes. It makes the same hot water on much less electricity. In Hastings, an iStore heat pump replaced an electric tank and runs off the solar during the day.
For four to six people with normal use, 270L to 300L. We go smaller or larger depending on the household.
Heat pumps do, and the discount is largest when replacing gas. STCs apply as well. Both come off the quote.
No. We replace hot water systems rather than repair them.
A gas to heat pump swap is normally done in one day, with our plumber and electrician together.
Tell us what heats your water now. We send a size, a brand and one price with the discounts off.
