EV charging in FrankstonThe charger is easy. The board is the question.
Most of the calls we take about EV chargers Frankston owners want fitted come from the same kind of house: single-storey brick veneer from the 1960s to the 1980s, a garage or driveway down one side, and a switchboard that has never been touched. Sometimes that board is on the outside wall. Just as often it sits in a hallway cupboard or the back of a wardrobe, a long way from where the car parks.
A charger draws a steady 32 amps for hours at a time, which is more than anything else the house runs. An original board with ceramic fuses and no spare space was never designed for that, so we look at it first, work out the cable route from the board to the parking spot, and decide whether the board stays, gets extra protection or is replaced. Whatever it needs is written into the same fixed quote.
Supply matters too. Frankston is mostly single-phase, with three-phase on some streets depending on when the connection went in. Single-phase gives you about 7kW, which adds roughly 40km of range for every hour on the charger and covers most commutes overnight. If the house already has three-phase, we can fit 11kW or 22kW where the car accepts it. More on our other work around Frankston.
