Electrification in Clyde NorthTwo kinds of house, one plan
Home electrification Clyde North style starts with when the house was built. The earlier estate homes went up with ducted gas heating, a gas hot water unit and a gas cooktop, and the ducted heaters in those streets are now the appliance owners most often ask us to plan around. Some newer homes were built without a gas connection at all, so the job there is less about taking gas out and more about adding solar, a battery and an EV charger to a house that is already electric.
In the gas homes the order is usually heating first, because the ducted heater uses the most gas and a reverse cycle system brings refrigerated cooling with it. Reverse cycle heats for around a third of the running cost of gas heating. Heat pump hot water tends to come next, then the cooktop. Solar and a battery are sized for the electric load the house is heading towards, not the one it has today.
Before any of it we check the switchboard and whether the house is single or three-phase, because that decides what the board can carry once everything runs on electricity. From there it is one plan from the first inspection, done in whatever order suits you, alongside our other work in Clyde North.
