Heating and cooling in Clyde NorthThe heater is young. The cooling is what is missing
In most of the south east, a heating call means a gas ducted heater that has finally died. Clyde North is different, because the houses are. Homes built here between about 2012 and 2022 generally have a ducted gas heater that still has years left in it. What they often lack is decent cooling: some were handed over with an evaporative unit only, some with a single split in the living room, and some with nothing upstairs at all.
So the usual Clyde North job is cooling first. Upstairs bedrooms in a double-storey home sit under a dark roof and hold the heat well into the night, and a split system in each, or one multi-head serving several rooms, fixes that in a single visit. Because every unit is reverse cycle, it heats as well, and plenty of owners find they stop running the gas heater for the rooms they actually use.
The gas heater is the second conversation. Nobody should rip out a sound eight-year-old unit, but it is worth knowing what replaces it and what that needs from the switchboard and the roof, especially if solar is going on this year. The newest streets were built all-electric and skip that step entirely. We cover both situations here and on the main Clyde North page.
