West FootscrayWest Footscray, from the switchboard up
West Footscray is postwar weatherboard and cream brick on 500 to 600 square metre blocks around Barkly Street, a lot of it now split into two or three townhouses. The original homes are where most of our work is: gas wall furnaces or ducted gas added later, gas storage hot water and switchboards well past their best.
Because West Footscray is on mains gas and inside the VEU area, the usual order of works is heating and hot water first for the rebates and the running-cost drop, then solar and a battery sized to the new electric load, then the cooktop, then the gas meter abolished. The west also runs hotter in summer than the bay and eastern suburbs, so the reverse cycle system that replaces the gas heater earns its keep twice a year.
Site inspections in West Footscray are free, the quote is fixed with every rebate already applied, and the same in-house crew does the electrical, refrigeration and plumbing. If you are weighing up where to start, our home electrification page walks through the order, or call and we will tell you straight for your house.
