SeddonSeddon, from the switchboard up
Seddon is a tight grid of Victorian and Edwardian weatherboard cottages around the Charles Street shops, most on narrow frontages with a lean-to kitchen out the back and a heritage overlay over much of the suburb. The typical house we see has a gas space heater in the front room, a gas storage hot water unit by the back door and a switchboard that has not been touched since the 1970s.
Because Seddon is on mains gas and inside the VEU area, the usual order of works is heating and hot water first for the rebates and the running-cost drop, then solar and a battery sized to the new electric load, then the cooktop, then the gas meter abolished. The west also runs hotter in summer than the bay and eastern suburbs, so the reverse cycle system that replaces the gas heater earns its keep twice a year.
Everything on this page is done by Powerband employees, not subcontractors, and quoted as a fixed after-rebate price after a free site inspection. For the full picture of how we stage a house off gas, see our home electrification page; for Seddon specifics, the fastest answer is a phone call.
