MaidstoneHow we approach Maidstone homes
Maidstone was built out in the 1950s and 60s, a lot of it as housing commission weatherboard and brick veneer, and much of it has since been subdivided into townhouses. The original homes are compact, usually single storey with a gas heater in the lounge and a gas storage tank, which makes them quick and affordable to take off gas.
Because Maidstone is on mains gas and inside the VEU area, the usual order of works is heating and hot water first for the rebates and the running-cost drop, then solar and a battery sized to the new electric load, then the cooktop, then the gas meter abolished. The west also runs hotter in summer than the bay and eastern suburbs, so the reverse cycle system that replaces the gas heater earns its keep twice a year.
Maidstone is about 70 minutes from our Somerville depot. We plan west-side work so one inspection covers the whole house and installs are booked to run to schedule, and everything is done by Powerband employees, not subcontractors, for a fixed after-rebate price.
