Heating in RosebudHeating for people who are home all day
A beach house that is empty from Monday to Friday can get by on a wall heater. A Rosebud home with someone in it every day cannot. Plenty of households here are full time, many of them retired, and the heating runs from breakfast to bedtime through a peninsula winter. That makes running cost the first thing to look at, ahead of the price of the unit.
The usual setup in the brick veneer streets is a ducted gas heater that went in when the house was built, now well past twenty years old, with floor or ceiling vents and no cooling. We replace it with ducted reverse cycle on new R1.5 insulated ducts, which heats for around a third of the running cost of gas and cools the house on the hot north-wind days as well. In the villa units and older cottages, where there is no roof space to work in, a split system in the living area and one in the main bedroom usually covers it.
Gas in Rosebud is patchy. Some streets have mains gas, some homes were never connected and run on bottled gas or electric panel heaters, and a few have already gone all electric. We find out what your house runs on before recommending anything, and fit it with the other work we do in Rosebud.
