iStore 270L
The unit we put in on our Langwarrin job. An all-in-one design that drops into the gap a gas tank leaves, sized right for most families.
- 270L all-in-one
- Fitted in Langwarrin
- Family of four to six
A heat pump in place of the old gas or electric tank, fitted by our plumber and electrician together in about a day. Timed to run on your solar, with the VEU discount and STCs taken off the price.
Most of the Langwarrin homes we visit were built between the 1960s and the 1980s, and the hot water is usually a storage tank against the side wall. Many run on gas, some on an electric element. Either way it is one of the larger energy users in the house, and when it starts to struggle it is a good moment to change what makes the hot water, not just the tank.
A heat pump uses about a quarter of the energy of a gas storage unit. It fits in a similar footprint, and for a family of four to six a 270L to 300L tank covers normal use. That is the size we fitted at a busy family home in Langwarrin: a 270L iStore, designed into the same system as 21.85kW of solar and a 45.2kWh battery so the hot water heats during the day on the roof's output.
Not every house needs the whole package, and many hot water systems Langwarrin owners ask us about are simple one-day swaps. Our plumber and electrician arrive together, take the old unit away and leave the new one running by the evening. More on our Langwarrin work.
Brands we know well and can support. We replace old systems rather than repair them.

Three sizes, 220L, 270L and 320L, so we can match it to a couple, a family or a bigger household without overspending.
Australian made, with the heat pump separate from the tank, for side paths where the tank can stay put but the outdoor unit is better placed further along.
In 200L, 250L and 330L. A good fit where an electric element tank is being replaced and the household size is at either end of the range.
The full range is on our products page.
The Emerald All-In-One Pro heat pump, app-controlled, in 220L, 270L and 320L sizes.
An Australian-made split heat pump, with the tank and the outdoor unit able to sit apart.
The iStore 270L all-in-one heat pump, a common straight swap for a family-sized gas tank.
The Haier 500 Series monoblock heat pump water heater, in 200L, 250L and 330L sizes.
Our Langwarrin job, one in Baxter next door and one down the Peninsula.
A 270L iStore heat pump for a busy family home, designed with 21.85kW of Jinko solar, a 45.2kWh Sigenergy battery behind an upgraded switchboard in the garage and an EV charger.
Next door in Baxter, a heat pump hot water unit with 24 Jinko panels, a single-phase Sigen hybrid and 27.12kWh of SigenStor undercover on the south wall. The main board and a sub-board were upgraded.
An Emerald heat pump installed as part of a full electrification, with the hallway gas wall furnace replaced by reverse cycle, 29 Jinko panels on tile and a 27.12kWh SigenStor with backup gateway.
Plumber and electrician together, so the old unit is out and the new one running the same day.
Gas or electric, where it sits, the plumbing, the clearances and the power at the board.

The 270L iStore on solar is written up in full on our case studies.

The whole experience of working with Powerband has been fantastic. From the get go they were helpful with the design, requirements and answering all the questions we had about the install. We couldn't be happier with choosing them for the job. Special thanks to Bailey and the team for getting the entire installation done in one day it was a huge job so for it to be done and to such a high standard is much appreciated Thanks everyone at Powerband for all you've donePosted on Google![]()

We have just had a Braemer Dominator reverse cycle ducted system installed by the Powerband Electrical team to replace our gas-fired system. We were very happy with the whole process, from the sales/design discussions with Dayle to the installation by the team led by Julian and including Logan and Darren. Using the existing ducting had its challenges but the team overcame them well. Julian set up the AirTouch5 control system & zoning with us and with a sudden cold snap arriving it has proven simple to use to create a comfortable environment. In fact we are already finding it far more effective system than the considerably larger gas unit and a more uniform heat with less draughts. Thanks to the Powerband team. Petris and his electrical team did 2 inverter airconditioner installs as part of our whole solar system install. Great workers, good thinkers who could sort out a couple of small issues in short order and wonderful people to have around our house. Organised and professional. Highly recommend Powerband.Posted on Google![]()

Had the Powerband team electrify out whole house. Updated the heating / cooling with split systems, replace gas cooktop & hot water and put solar on with a 30kw battery. No gas bill, solar is producing more energy than we consume. These days we barely even have the supply charge. As part of it, they put the package together of what we wanted and needed to future proof our house and showed us several options for paying for it, in the end we opted for a 5-year interest free loan. Looking at our numbers, most of the loan will be paid off from the savings from our gas and electricity savings. All the work and upgrades done and barely any out of pocket cost, nice.... The team were great - worked in with timing for the jobs when it worked for us. The boys on site were all great, friendly, polite and professional. Did the job well and packed up (and cleaned up) well. Happy to recommend Powerband to anyone wanting to electrify their house in a cost-effective way.Posted on Google![]()

Yes. A heat pump replaces an electric element tank just as easily, and uses much less power to make the same hot water. STCs apply, and we check the VEU discount for your situation.
A 270L to 300L tank suits four to six people with normal use. The Langwarrin home on this page has a 270L iStore.
A gas to heat pump swap is normally done in one day, with the plumber and electrician on site together.
Yes. We set a timer so it heats while the panels are producing, which is how the Langwarrin job above runs.
No. We replace old systems with heat pumps. We do not repair existing units.
The incentives for heat pump hot water are the Victorian Energy Upgrades discount and federal STCs. We apply both on the quote.
We look at your old unit, the space and the board, then send a written price with the incentives applied. No obligation.
