Altona MeadowsAltona Meadows, from the switchboard up
Altona Meadows was built out in the 1980s and 90s, and it is brick veneer almost street for street, most of it with ducted gas heating and a gas storage or instantaneous hot water unit. Those systems are now 25 to 35 years old, which is why heating and hot water are most of the work we do here.
Because Altona Meadows is on mains gas and inside the VEU area, the usual order of works is heating and hot water first for the rebates and the running-cost drop, then solar and a battery sized to the new electric load, then the cooktop, then the gas meter abolished. The west also runs hotter in summer than the bay and eastern suburbs, so the reverse cycle system that replaces the gas heater earns its keep twice a year.
Everything on this page is done by Powerband employees, not subcontractors, and quoted as a fixed after-rebate price after a free site inspection. For the full picture of how we stage a house off gas, see our home electrification page; for Altona Meadows specifics, the fastest answer is a phone call.
