Solar inverters Melbourne

The inverter is the brain of your solar system

Your panels make the power. The inverter turns it into electricity your home can use, while managing solar, batteries and the grid. We choose the inverter around your home, your usage and what you plan to electrify next.

Why the inverter matters

It's more than a box on the wall

The inverter is where your solar power becomes usable power for the house. It controls how your panels perform, how much solar you use yourself and, with the right system, how a battery fits into the picture.

That means the cheapest inverter is rarely the right place to start. We look at your roof, your electricity use, your switchboard, your battery plans and the appliances you want to run before choosing the equipment.

Powerband installs a range of proven inverter and energy-system brands, so the recommendation starts with your house rather than a particular product.

Before we choose one

We size the inverter around the house

The right inverter depends on more than the number of panels on the roof. We look at what the house uses now and what it will use next.

01
Your solar size

Panel capacity, roof layout and expected production determine the inverter size and configuration.

02
Your electricity use

We look at your bills and daily load rather than sizing the system from house size alone.

03
Your battery plans

If a battery is part of the plan now or later, we choose an inverter that makes sense for that path.

04
Your future loads

EV charging, heat pumps, air conditioning and induction cooking can change how much energy your home needs.

How it works

From sunlight to usable power

The inverter sits between the solar panels, your home and the electricity grid, coordinating where the energy goes.

Solar inverter system
  1. 01
    Solar generation

Your panels generate DC electricity whenever there is usable sunlight.

  2. 02
    Conversion

The inverter converts that DC electricity into AC power your home's appliances can use.

  3. 03
    Home consumption

Solar power is used in the house first, reducing the amount of electricity you need to buy from the grid.

  4. 04
    Battery or grid

Depending on the system, excess energy can charge a battery or be exported to the grid.

Why Powerband

We know what the inverter will be powering

A solar company only has to think about the solar. We install the rest of the electrical system too.

01

Whole-home thinking

We also install batteries, heat pumps, air conditioning and EV chargers, so the inverter is chosen with the rest of the house in mind.

Home electrification
02

Battery-ready design

If a battery is part of the plan, we can design the inverter and switchboard around it from the beginning instead of treating it as an afterthought.

Battery storage
03

Our own electricians

Your system is installed and commissioned by our own A-Grade electricians, with the electrical work handled as part of the whole installation.

04

One system, not six suppliers

Solar, batteries, switchboards, EV charging and home electrification can be planned together, so the system works as one rather than as separate upgrades.

More than the box on the wall

A good inverter needs a good installation

The inverter is only one part of the system. We design and install the electrical side around it so the whole system works properly.

01

Assess

We look at your existing electrical setup, solar generation, energy use and future plans.

02

Match

We compare inverter options against your system rather than forcing every customer into the same product.

03

Install

Our licensed electricians install the inverter, protection, cabling and associated equipment to the requirements of the system.

04

Commission

We configure and commission the system, connect monitoring and make sure you understand how to use it.

FAQ

Questions we get about inverters

The inverter can be one of the most confusing parts of a solar quote. Here are the questions we hear most often.

Do I need an inverter with solar panels?

Yes. Solar panels produce DC electricity, while your home uses AC electricity. The inverter converts the electricity into a form your home can use.

Can I add a battery to my solar inverter later?

Sometimes. It depends on the inverter and battery architecture. If you know you want a battery in the future, tell us before the solar system is designed so we can choose an appropriate platform.

Which inverter brand is best?

There isn't one best inverter for every home. Fronius, Sigenergy, SolarEdge, Sungrow, GoodWe and Tesla all have different strengths. We recommend the platform that fits your system, budget and future plans.

How long do solar inverters last?

Inverter life depends on the product, installation environment, operating conditions and maintenance. Product warranties also vary by manufacturer and model, so we will explain the applicable warranty with your quote.

Can an inverter work during a blackout?

A standard grid-connected solar inverter normally shuts down when the grid goes down for safety reasons. Backup operation requires a compatible battery and backup-capable system designed to operate independently of the grid.

Can my inverter run an EV charger or heat pump?

Your solar system can help power those loads, but the correct system size depends on your generation, electrical supply and how the loads operate. If you are planning an EV charger, heat pump or other large load, tell us during the design stage.
