Heating in Safety BeachA house that is empty on Wednesday
Heating a Safety Beach home is often less about the coldest night of the year and more about the hour after you pull into the driveway. A lot of the houses here are weekenders. They sit closed up from Sunday to Friday, and in winter that means walking into a cold, slightly damp house and waiting for an old wall heater or a tired split to catch up. In January it is the opposite problem, with a house that has been baking shut for five days.
The older beach houses are low, single storey and built for summer, with thin walls, little roof space and no ducts. Reverse cycle split systems suit them well: one in the living area and one for the bedrooms, or a multi-head off a single outdoor unit, each controllable over Wi-Fi. The modern homes around Martha Cove are bigger and usually better insulated, and they suit zoned ducted reverse cycle, with upstairs and downstairs run separately.
Both come with the same local condition. Safety Beach is flat, open to the bay and close to the water on every street, so an outdoor unit here gets more salt than almost anywhere else we work. We specify for it and place the unit carefully. See what else we do in Safety Beach.
