Heating in LyndhurstBuilt with gas for winter and water for summer
When the Lyndhurst estates went up between about 2005 and 2015, the standard package was a ducted gas heater in the roof and, as often as not, an evaporative cooler on top of it. That means two machines, two sets of ducts, and two things to service. The heaters are now between ten and twenty years old, which is the age at which fan motors, control boards and heat exchangers start to give trouble.
Evaporative cooling has its own limits. It needs windows open, it struggles on humid days, and it does nothing in winter. When the gas heater needs replacing, most Lyndhurst owners take the chance to move to a single ducted reverse cycle system. It heats at around a third of the running cost of gas heating and gives refrigerated cooling with the house closed up. The old gas ducts come out and new R1.5 insulated ducts sized to the new unit go in.
The double-storey homes need a closer look, because part of the duct system may run between the floors. We check that before recommending anything. Smaller homes and townhouses near the main roads sometimes suit split systems better than ducted. Whichever applies, the quote covers it alongside the other services we offer in Lyndhurst.
