Heating in Glen WaverleyGas for winter, a wall unit for summer, two bills
In most original Glen Waverley homes the heating is a ducted gas unit that went in decades ago, and the cooling is whatever was added later: a wall split in the family room, maybe an evaporative unit on the roof. Two systems, two lots of servicing, and a gas heater that is getting harder to find parts for.
Ducted reverse cycle does both jobs from one unit. In a single-storey brick veneer with a roof space you can move around in, we take out the gas heater and its old ducts, fit the new unit, and run new R1.5 insulated ducts sized to it. Heating costs around a third of what the gas did to run, and the bedrooms get proper cooling for the first time.
The rebuilds are a different conversation. Many were finished with gas ducted heating and separate splits, and the question there is usually whether to change the heating now or when the gas unit fails. We service Glen Waverley from Somerville, about 50 minutes away, and give the same straight advice we give closer to home, along with the rest of our work in Glen Waverley.
