DoncasterWorking in Doncaster
Doncaster sits in the City of Manningham area, about 49 km and 60 minutes from our Somerville depot, next to Doncaster West, Box Hill North and Doncaster East. Most of the housing went up between the 1960s and the 1980s: brick veneer on a slab or stumps, a ducted gas heater in the roof and a gas storage tank against the side wall. It is the most common kind of house we electrify, and the one where the savings are largest.
Because Doncaster is on mains gas and inside the VEU area, the typical order of works is heating and hot water first for the rebates and the running-cost drop, then solar and a battery sized to the new electric load, then the cooktop, then the gas meter abolished. We plan the whole sequence at the first inspection so nothing has to be redone.
Doncaster is regular territory for our crews, and a site inspection there is usually within the week. We design every job as one system, so the solar is sized for the heat pump it will run and the switchboard is checked before the EV charger is quoted.
