Heating in CheltenhamA wall furnace in the lounge and cold bedrooms
Cheltenham heats itself in two ways. The postwar brick veneers mostly have ducted gas in the roof, often the second or third heater the house has had. The villa units, the older weatherboards and plenty of the smaller homes have a gas wall furnace or a space heater in the living room, a wall split someone added for summer, and bedrooms that rely on a column heater. Both are gas bills for a house that is never quite even.
The fix depends on which one you have. A ducted gas house with a walk-through roof is a good candidate for ducted reverse cycle on new R1.5 insulated ducts, with zoning so the bedrooms are not heated all day. A unit or a wall-furnace home usually gets more for the money from a well-placed split in the living area and a multi-head running the bedrooms off one outdoor unit. Either way the house gets proper cooling, and reverse cycle heating costs around a third of the running cost of gas heating.
We are about 40 minutes from Cheltenham, so we look at the house properly once and come back with a clear recommendation rather than three options. See also our other services in Cheltenham.
