Heating in Carrum DownsOne storey makes the whole job possible
Almost every house in Carrum Downs was built with ducted gas. The suburb grew between the 1980s and the 2000s, when a gas heater in the roof and a row of ceiling vents down the hallway was simply what a new family home came with. Some of those heaters have been replaced once. Many are original, which makes them twenty to forty years old, and the flexible ducts attached to them are the same age.
The good news is the shape of the house. With a single storey and a tiled hip roof there is room to stand in the roof space and reach every duct run. That lets us do the swap the way it should be done: gas heater out, old ducts out, ducted reverse cycle unit in, new R1.5 insulated ducts sized to that unit run to every room. Nothing has to be left behind because it cannot be reached.
It also brings cooling to every room, not only the lounge, and heats for around a third of the running cost of gas heating. A family home with the kids' bedrooms shut all day gets the most from zoning, so we plan the zones with you before quoting. Read about the rest of our Carrum Downs work.
