HeathertonWorking in Heatherton
Heatherton is City of Kingston bayside, about 40 minutes from our Somerville depot along the Nepean Highway. The housing is older and more varied than the outer suburbs: interwar and 1950s homes, plenty of them renovated and extended, on generous blocks with good roof area. Gas heating is near universal in the originals, and heritage or neighbourhood character overlays affect where panels can go on some streets, which we check before quoting.
Because Heatherton is on mains gas and inside the VEU area, the typical order of works is heating and hot water first for the rebates and the running-cost drop, then solar and a battery sized to the new electric load, then the cooktop, then the gas meter abolished. We plan the whole sequence at the first inspection so nothing has to be redone.
Heatherton is regular territory for our crews, and a site inspection there is usually within the week. We design every job as one system, so the solar is sized for the heat pump it will run and the switchboard is checked before the EV charger is quoted.
