How Does It Work
- The heat pump hot water system draws air from its environment using a fan or blower. This air holds heat energy, even if it may seem cold to touch.
- Within the heat pump, there is a refrigerant that flows through a closed-loop system. This refrigerant absorbs the heat from the air and converts it into a warm gas.
- The warm gas undergoes compression. As it gets compressed, its pressure increases, and its molecules become closer together, resulting in a significant temperature rise.

How does a heat pump hot water system work?
Are you interested in increasing your savings? You're in luck! You can enjoy added benefits by applying for a $1,000 rebate through Solar Victoria. To qualify for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be the owner-occupier of an existing property where the Hot Water System will be installed.
- The total annual taxable income of all property owners should not exceed $210,000.
- The property's assessed value should be less than $3 million.
- The property's address should not have previously received a hot water rebate or a solar battery rebate under the Solar Homes Program.
- The hot water system that is to be replaced should be at least three years old from the date of purchase.
